Dakota Johnson isn’t using her viewing of “Madame Web” as an opportunity
Dakota Johnson’s decision to forgo seeing her most recent film may come as a surprise to some. The actress, who plays the lead role in the upcoming superhero movie “Madame Web,” said to MagicFM earlier this week that she was unsure of when she would view the film. She wavered between indicating that she “probably won’t see it” and implying that she would “someday.”
However, Johnson clarified that it had nothing to do with “Madame Web” in particular and that she doesn’t “like to” see any of her movies.
“For me, it’s a means of avoiding, say, an existential crisis,” the actor from “Fifty Shades of Grey” said. “It’s like self-care not to watch my movies.” Dakota Johnson is not the only actor to use that tactic. Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Emma Stone, Adam Driver, and other celebrities have also stated that they generally steer clear of project screenings.
Johnson plays a clairvoyant paramedic in “Madame Web,” which has a shaky relationship to the Sony Pictures collection of movies that also includes the upcoming “Morbius” starring Jared Leto and the “Venom” films. “Madame Web” has received a 13% Rotten Tomatoes rating due to unfavorable reviews.
However, Dakota Johnson at least understands the correct response to the query, “Do you Google yourself?” when it comes to self-care! God no,” Melanie Griffith Johnson’s daughter said on MagicFM last week. “Oh my god, no.”
