Over the following 48 hours, cyclonic storm “Michaung” is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal.
Cyclone Michaung: The low-pressure region that developed over the neighboring Strait of Malacca and the south Andaman Sea has now become a clearly identifiable low-pressure system.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Michaung reported on Wednesday that the low-pressure region over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and the neighboring South Andaman Sea has now changed into a well-marked low-pressure area. The IMD also issued a warning regarding a developing weather system.
Forecasters anticipate that by November 30, the storm will be moving toward the west-northwest and gradually strengthening into a depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal. Within the following 48 hours, Michaung is predicted to intensify much more and become cyclonic storm “Michaung” across the Southwest and adjacent Southeast Bay of Bengal.
The majority of the Nicobar Islands are expected to get mild to moderate rainfall, with sporadic areas seeing heavy to extremely heavy rainfall between November 29 and December 1. In most of the Andaman Islands, light to moderate rainfall is expected, with sporadic areas of extremely severe rainfall on November 30.
The IMD predicts that on November 29, strong winds with gusts up to 45 kmph will blow across the South Andaman Sea and the nearby Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
On November 30, squally conditions with wind gusts up to 60 kmph and speeds of 40 to 50 kmph are predicted for the southeast Bay of Bengal. On December 1, this is predicted to intensify to 50–60 kmph with gusts up to 70 kmph, and on December 2, gale winds of 60–70 kmph with gusts up to 80 kmph are predicted.
Over the southwest Bay of Bengal, squally winds between 40 and 50 kmph with gusts up to 60 kmph are predicted to intensify from the morning of December 1 to gale winds between 60 and 70 kmph with gusts up to 80 kmph on December 2. Squally wind gusts of 40–50 kmph with gusts up to 60 kmph are expected in the middle Bay of Bengal on December 1 and 50–60 kmph with gusts up to 70 kmph on December 2.
Fishermen are urged to stay out of the southeast Bay of Bengal from November 30 to December 2 and to stay out of the South Andaman Sea on November 29 and 30. Additionally, the IMD advised them to avoid the southwest Bay of Bengal on November 30 and December 2, as well as the central Bay of Bengal starting early on December 1.
Meanwhile, because of the low-pressure region over the South Andaman Sea, the Odisha government issued an alert for seven of the state’s coastal districts. A low-pressure region over the South Andaman Sea is expected to build into a depression and then into a cyclonic cyclone, according to a letter from Special Relief Commissioner Satyabrata Sahoo to the collectors of the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, and Ganjam.
Rain forecast
Throughout November 29–30, there is a chance of light to moderate rainfall that is scattered to fairly widespread, isolated thunderstorm activity, and Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad. On November 30, similar conditions are predicted for Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, with a notable decrease following that. Over the next two days, isolated areas over the plains of Northwest India are expected to have light rainfall.
during West Madhya Pradesh during the next two days, light to moderate scattered to moderately widespread rainfall, isolated thunderstorms, and lightning are all forecast. Similar weather is expected in East Madhya Pradesh over the next three days, while Vidarbha may anticipate it in the next 24 hours.
In Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada, light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is expected during the next two days, along with isolated thunderstorm activity.
Over the next five days, there is predicted to be light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, and Kerala & Mahe, along with isolated thunderstorm activity. On November 29 to December 1, heavy rainfall is predicted in isolated areas across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal; on November 30 and December 1, heavy rainfall is predicted over Kerala and Mahe.
