US Ambassador to India; Indian students smashed US student records consecutively for three years.

News Update Highlights: Ambassador, for the first time in over a decade, India has eclipsed China as the country from which the majority of foreign graduate students come to the United States. Highlights of the news update: Based on the research, about 268,000 Indian students will be enrolled in American universities in 2022–2023. According to Eric Garcetti, 25% of all overseas students enrolled at US universities are currently Indian.

The number of Indian students pursuing education in the United States has topped 2,68,000 in the academic year 2022–2023, according to US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti, who also disclosed that Indian students studying in the country had smashed records for the third consecutive year. For the third consecutive year, Indian students have surpassed US student records. “According to the report, there were over 2,68,000 Indian students enrolled in US universities in 2022–2023,” Garcetti stated on Thursday while attending the Humphrey Fellowship Program’s 45th anniversary.

Given that Indian students now make up 25% of all overseas students studying in the US, Ambassador Garcetti emphasised the important influence that Indian students have on the country’s educational system. Furthermore, he underlined that India has overtaken China as the country from which the majority of foreign graduate students come to the United States, signalling a historic change in the demography of higher education. Indeed, India now accounts for 25% of all overseas students studying in the US, and it just overtook China as the country’s primary supplier of international graduate students overall for the first time in over ten years, the US envoy stated.

Garcetti stressed the importance of the changing connection between the United States and India in a moving assessment of the status of the globe. The US ambassador listed the world’s most important concerns, including hunger, conflict, divides, and the climate crisis, and he stated his view that the two countries’ alliance goes beyond a mere additive connection.

Currently, there is a great deal of conflict and violence in the globe, as well as cries for aid from the earth and our climate, inequities, poverty, and unhealthful living situations for far too many people. Sincerely, I think that the bridge we are constructing between the US and India encompasses far more than just the US and India. It is a multiplicative relationship rather than an additive one. That is an exponential phenomenon. It’s something that provides more than simply the combined might of two countries,” Ambassador Garcetti said.

On a lighter note, Ambassador Garcetti also talked about his own experience celebrating Diwali in India, highlighting its distinct cosiness and giving. Comparing his experiences of Christmas in America with other holidays across the world, he was full of praise for Diwali’s grandeur and energy, saying it’s better than any celebration anyplace in the world. Being in India for the first time, Diwali holds great significance for me. And having witnessed that at Christmas in the US and other holidays in other nations, I believe Diwali surpasses all other festivals worldwide in terms of kindness and compassion,” Garcetti continued.
